That's a lucky Impala. That neck lick looked like the playing could easily turn to snacking.

From what I know about the earthquake in Haiti, there are known seismic forces pushing against each other right under the country's land mass.

I work with another nurse whose brother and sister were killed in the quake and her parents were left homeless. As of today, she's flying to Haiti on a charter flight hoping to speed up the process of her parents immigrating to Canada.

This event is painful enough, let alone having to deal with issues of blame.

With all due respect to differing opinions, I don't see why every instance of human suffering has to be a target for a political ideology. It takes away from the important issues of the situation which should be centered around humanitarianism (imho).

But, as I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

If that event was manmade it's very important everyone should know. Like 9-11.

Nobody beleives me about this shite but the evidence seems clear when u look at it.

does this information help the people of haiti? if so, how?

it seems to me that giving $20 to the red cross would be of more benefit.

p.s. that antelope is either scarred for life, or feeling like the luckiest dude alive.

Listen, Im spreading information. Im not trying to save the people of Haiti and dont claim that I can. Actually, In this life I beleive its very difficult to save or help anyone. Shite happens, people are born and people die. Neither mourning nor rejoicing is very profitable for the soul. That's what the Gita says.

Many newspapers down here are saying that that earthquake was caused by the US Military in order to invade and occupy Haiti. The presidents of Bolivia and Nicaragua have both called on the UN to stop what they call an invasion. I dont claim to know that this is either true or false. I just find these accusations immensely interesting and important and thought you might like to know. These are presidents of nations, not conspiracy nerds like me. It annoys me when I post info like this and people put these personal negative moral spins on it.

The weirdest thing about this is that there was relativly no damage in the Dominican Republic which is basically a tourist-resort state. Arent Haiti and the Dominican on the same Island? Was the earthquake isolated only on the poor side?

well, i didn't mean it to be negative or personal. or, if i did, then accept my apologies.

the gita also tells us, though, that leaders should keep the people ignorant in order to protect them and keep them happier. in that regard then, it seems that the gita would frown on the distribution and discussion of conspiracy theories, wouldn't it?

also, ecclesiastes says there is a time for everything, including a time to mourn, and a time to rejoice.

so which or them is right, in these two oppositional positions?

(heh heh. maybe ecclesiastes should say "there's a time to mourn, a time to rejoice, and a TIME TO DO NEITHER".)

anyway, there's an interesting article somewhere on the NY Times site that compares the San Fran earthquake of 1988 with the recent one-- both of the same magnitude, but in San Fran, 65 people died.

the difference, this article argued, was horrible infrastructure, shanty towns with tens of thousands of people built on the sides of mountains, and a nation entirely unprepared (due to years of foreign thievery and internal corruption) for any kind of major event like this.

as far as i know, only port-au-prince was affected, since the earthquake was offshore right next to it, which is the opposite side of the island from the D.R.

p.s. we should all do SOMETHING, at least individually, even if it's only to donate money. we don't have much power overall in the world, but as north americans, we do have money to throw around (though it may not feel like it most days).

challenge: cut your coffee/grocery/beer budget by $50 in the next month, and donate that much to somebody who's helping in haiti.

Interesting. I have compassion for all those people's suffering but I dont think I can really help and its not worth my precious energy to help in any way. I need that 50$ to eleviate my own suffering. Im very selfish to feel this way and am not sure why I am how I am. Maybe its because I dont see human life as being much more precious than those of animals and animals are being butchered on mass every day for my lunch. Maybe its because people are continually suffering everyday all over the world because of my society's indulgences and the only reason I know about this current crises in Haiti is because its been brought to my attention by a corrupt media with a hidden agenda. I must be a bad person to beleive that widespread human destruction is for the best.
