so interesting how the brain fills in gaps in knowledge/info/experience by creating its own "logic" that makes perfect sense.
sort of like that more adult idea of "cognitive dissonance" whereby we're able to ignore or modify direct evidence when it contradicts a belief system. (Sports being the easiest example, in which the other team's bad guy hits people with his stick he's a big hostile, hateful thug, but when your team's bad guy commits the same actions, he's just a charming rogue.)
