well, not to be cranky, b/c i really dig his art (and this show looks fabulous), but if he doesn't know of AlfA's demise, it's because he probably never checks it, and b/c he never really contributed beyond posting his show flyers. (not that they were unwelcome, but i just feel that that doesn't really constitute being an active member in any way...)
it kind of bugged me about AlfA that we had, like, 25 or 30 contributors listed, half of whom had never even made a single post or comment, or who had posted once or twice upon joining, and then hadn't posted or commented in the two or three years since.
if this blog is going to limp along as it has been thus far, fine, but i'd rather have it do so with the small group of people who actually check it, comment on it, and post, rather than a big inflated list of names who aren't even remotely involved in it.
that's just my two cents, though. i'm no dictator. if we want him to join, fine. i have no problem with that. but people who are going to join should contribute, i think. otherwise, why join?
It's just a blog man. It's not as if this is a job, and some are slacking to make your day harder. Should we set up a minimum post quota? I personally had no problem with the "pop-ins".
well, maybe this is overstating the case H20, but how about the next book of paintings you publish, you let me add two or three brush strokes to one finished work, and then we publish the book as "the paintings of justin waterman and lorne roberts".
it doesn't make your work any harder, no, but it trivializes it, in that i get to claim some sort of stake in something i never contributed to in any meaningful way.
still though, if people want to invite any and all, i'm not gonna make a fuss about it, and it's not really gonna affect my life one way or the other all that much, so...
if you have something to say, it seems better to me to just come right out and say it directly, rather than using sarcasm, which not only obscures your message, but only causes hard feelings.
disagreements are normal, and will happen, but it's possible to disagree without using mean-spirited language.
also, i think everyone has admin, so if you want to invite someone, that's your choice.
I wasn't being sarcastic (or at least it wasn't my intention). I was just trying to use some humour to difuse the situation.
I certainly think I made myself clear in my earlier comment about the decision that needs to be made about what the blog is loose or tight...I'm feeling agnostic about it at this point.
so I'll bow out whatever you all decide is fine with me.
The sarcasm is only to lighten the mood. I think you are taking this too serious. I don't think I've said anything that could cause hard feelings. If I did, please come right out and tell me!

I hear that! I agree...I think contribution should start with comments and then, from that, we can decide on making the person a member.

If every stroke had a "stroked by..." under it, I would have no problem with that!
And your last statement was my point.
I like hearing about this stuff from you waterman. unless rodrigo contributes I wouldn't add him.
What's worse? Posting the odd art promo, or deleting the blog? lol
I guess this is a question of wanting a tightly coupled or loosely coupled group...with the realization that there are benefits and costs with both.
Funny, my link for this site is called "BETA blog for all"
Beta blog for all...maybe it's a typo?
;)
I get what you are saying.

uh, well, i wasn't referring to you, really.

ok, well, i found 'em kinda bitchy, but obviously i misinterpreted.
so, uh... do we have a criteria for inviting people then?
minimum of 25 push-ups daily and x-number of posts per month? or, do we just invite whoever we see fit?
p.s. i was shakin' my eyes.
screw this, I'm going to join a shak'
in rock'in roll band.
am I'm NOT sawing the furniture.
you are sawing the furniture, why do you always saw the furniture!!??
