Blog: "Your Name Here"

This blog needs a (real) name. Regional and animistic preferably. The Beaver is already taken unfortunately or perhaps fortunately. My first thought was The Black Fly for various reasons. ~m

I'm not sure about a new title. Beta seems okay to me, for now.

However, I have to say I don't like the new background on the blog or the title.

it reminds me of fake marble countertops.

I like the dark text on a lighter background.

Why black fly? (I think that's a great name btw)

When I google "beta blog" I get 125 million hits...none of them seem to be this blog....the first time I was invited to the alfa blog I googled alfa blog to find it and ended up on a site called "Ann Landers For Assholes" (no word of a lie, ironically). If the blog is private it doesn't really matter what we call it, if it's public then differentiating ourselves from the rest is vital. The style settings, that's just me finding my way into the system and seeing what can be done. The number one thing stylewise tho' is readability. If we're going to be looking at this thing every day I don't want it to hurt me. I already fight with computer vision syndrome (CVS) from an excess of screen reading and book reading. The one thing still missing is the big picture...the mission statement, also vital if the blog is to coalesce into something greater than the sum of it's contributors.

Black Fly...it's Manitoban'esque...they're tough...annoying...suck blood, fun to draw perhaps...

Ann Landers for Assholes!
that is unbelievable.

I didn't realize that our name was so ubiquitous, although I guess I should have guessed.
I think that's a good point, and if we don't want to be private being easy to find is important.

I think Beta made/makes sense to transition to something after Alfa (no pun intended)

I agree about the blog needing to be kind to the eyes. I like your suggestions in that regard. Sorry hope I wasn't too harsh about the background.
I just find patterns hard to deal with, they distract me.

How about:
The Speaking God?
Or
the Speaking Spirit?
that´s what Manitoba means.
