k, so I'm sorry if this is somehow sacrilege to the purists here, but I have a completely un-intellectual or artistic question to ask. My sister is getting married in two weeks and I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to give her. She and her fiance are wealthy and pretty much have everything they want. More importantly, I have no money. Naturally, I'm thinking of making something, but my creativity is at a standstill. Any thoughts? Please help me.
I might suggest that you find an artist friend with whoom you can trade something; a service for a service kinda thing. For example, you like to write and are good at it. You may want to help write a grant application, or redo a CV, bio, artist statement or something in exchange for a piece of art that your sister would like. Offer up your place for someone to crash at for a few nights if they are coming to town in exchange for a framed photo.
We used to have barbies as kids, but we used to chew their legs until they were all gross and mottled. We would also rip their heads off and call them "ghostie". Was this a young child's version of feminist protest or were we just sick twisted little girls?
that's so funny Anita. I used to draw tatoos on my barbies, mostly on their faces, colour their hair with marker (blue, pink, green) and give them mohawks.
I also used to chew on their feet and hands.
Olivia on the other hand just ignores them. I've never bought her one, but every relative I have has given her a barbie. They sit in a bin in her closet most of the time.

haha...are you appalled at this post? Hahaha too funny
A hand crafted scrapbook of childhood photos, with memories of the event written next to them. Although, this doesn't really address the groom.
I like Denis' idea....204.228-6041
I usually get the happy couple bags of charm and envelopes full of hugs.

And that's not to say you couldn't make something very nice, I'm certain you can!
(and would like to see)
For easy medium with nice effect, try a charcoal drawing.
If you decide painting, take drying time into account, oils can be a while (acrylic is speedy).
What ever you decide, let us see.
