of course you know i was hoping you would post the "y'know, sicilians are spawned by..." speech.

this is interesting too, though. i had forgot about his work as a collector of art. and i like his meditations on collecting, how he mostly removes himself from the process, and talks more about it as the dialog between the artist and the audience.

was dennis hopper gay? i'm just suddenly wondering this now, after watching this...

Cool - I like his approach to art, artists, collecting and the resulting relationship with each.

Cool.

Although I was put off, I like what he said re: not caring about the artist's intention, it's whether he 'gets it' or not. That resonates with me. I also don't like rich people getting richer, heheh.

I also liked that he doesn't care about artist intentions, that's how it should be. I bet that he learned that from his artist buddies. When I make a painting, the most specific part of it, the intention, is just usually for me alone to get. If anyone else gets ANYTHING from it, it's a bonus in my mind. I have yet to see someone "get" what I got out of any art, mine or others. In other words we all seem to perceive differently.

kind've looks like my house, but rather than having harings and basquiats I've got macris and prieurs and plischks' hanging on the walls.

but i've got to ask....gay?

yeah macro, we sure do perceive things differently.

I privilege all perceptions other than my own, or at least I try! Hahahahah!

ya, the sicillians dialogue is one of my favs.
I just thought this was a different/ more realistic lens from which to view Mr. Hopper.

I liked what he said about artist intention too.
