hm, that's too bad. and so it goes.

word verif: sallibi.

can't say i loved his work, though i get why others might, but good on him anyway-- he lived (presumably) doing what he loved.

That painting in the background reminds me I should see his work in person. It seems like he shouldn't be allowed to do that (scrawling randomly on the wall). But it's also angelic, discovering and unbidden... like a child, madman or alien being. Just someone who doesn't know or care about the ambitious rules of art and painting. His works seem instinctual. Cy is contrary to the usual spectecal of dexterity, effort, illusion, and technique that most artists try to use to lure us in. "Lure us in"?! Fuck off already 'lure us in', I don't want to buy anything anymore. I don't care how awesome you can highlight and shade or if you measured out a fucking golden rectangle. I want something mysterious, exotic, natural, pure. I don't know where I'm going with this so I'll just stop there =P.

And then I was like... Maybe I should get one of his paintings on a t-shirt!

Or would that automatically look awful?
