Measure it and they will come. Sadly, my experience has not been that 'keeping it simple for the lay person' works - you start a meeting with everyone agreeing with the observer effect but it soon gets lost in an administrative bog. Indicator quicksand.

this is a pretty mind-bending concept. i'd be interested to hear it explained a bit more thoroughly.

I guess it is pretty easy, we do it all the time, just not consciously.
I still don't understand the "why" or "how". I don't think physicists do either. I guess that's the mystery, right?
